Job Description:
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented temporary Monogramming & Embroidery Specialist to assist with our in-house personalization services for the holiday season. In this hands-on role, you will operate and maintain our commercial (Baradun and Brother) monogramming and embroidery machinery to customize high-end products—including apparel, linens, and accessories.
The ideal candidate possesses exceptional craftsmanship, technical knowledge of embroidery software and machine mechanics, and a strong commitment to quality control. You will work closely with sales and atelier teams to transform customer requests into beautifully finished, bespoke items.
Key Responsibilities
Machine Operation & Customization
• Equipment Operation: Set up, adjust, and operate our (Baradun and Brother) multi needle commercial embroidery and monogramming machines to execute precise, high-quality custom work.
• Digitizing & File Prep: Load, edit, and adjust embroidery files, fonts, thread colors, densities, and sizing using embroidery software
• Hooping & Material Handling: Properly frame, hoop, and stabilize a wide variety of delicate and structured materials—including leather, cashmere, canvas, silk, and heavy denim—without damaging the goods.
• Bespoke Personalization: Execute custom initials, names, motifs, and logos according to precise customer placement specifications and order tickets.
Quality Control & Finishing
• Precision Inspection: Perform meticulous quality assurance checks on all completed pieces—inspecting stitch quality, alignment, thread tension, and backing removal before final customer delivery.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve machine errors, thread breaks, tension issues, or fabric distortion in real time to prevent product loss.
• Hand Finishing: Clean up loose threads, trim backings cleanly, and press or steam finished products to ensure a flawless retail presentation.
Maintenance & Operations
• Routine Maintenance: Perform regular machine care, including cleaning, oiling, needle changes, and minor mechanical adjustments to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain inventory levels for personalization supplies (threads, backings, stabilizers, needles, and placement guides); notify management when reordering is required.
• Order Tracking: Log and track custom order progress through our internal management system to ensure on-time fulfillment.
Candidate Qualifications
• Experience: 2+ years of hands-on experience operating commercial or multi-needle embroidery/monogramming machines (Barudan 15 needle, Brother Entrepreneur 10 needle) in a retail, garment manufacturing, or custom shop setting.
• Technical Skills: Familiarity with embroidery digitizing software, file formats (.DST, .PES, etc.), and machine interface controls.
• Material Expertise: Knowledge of appropriate backings, stabilizers, needles, and thread types for different fabrics and leather weights.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous eye for alignment, color matching, symmetry, and flawless execution on high-value items.
• Problem-Solving: Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to troubleshoot tension issues and thread breaks quickly.
• Communication: Ability to read and interpret detailed custom order tickets accurately and collaborate effectively with boutique staff.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
• Ability to stand or sit for extended periods while prepping and running machinery.
• Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination for precision hooping, threading, and detailed finishing.
• Ability to lift up to 25–30 lbs (e.g., boxes of supplies or heavier garments/linens).
